This vacuum head is heavy to go right to the bottom, strongly made, and has quality wheels with ball bearings like a little skateboard wheel. It rolls easily over my vinyl pool bottom. It is good at picking up LOOSE small leaves and general dirt or worms and such that accumulates over winter. DRAWBACK: I am returning this product because it is not designed for algae/green scum from winter. It basically gets none of the algae that is attached to the pool liner. This is a deal breaker for me, I need a vacuum head with some bristles, as the algae is still on my liner.

Customer Review: We have had a 20×40 in-ground vinyl liner pool for over 30 years so am well experienced in repairs & maintenance. This is one of the best vacuum head that I have found. Really like the extra width & the pole connection that allows it to swivel slightly when using. It definitely makes it easier to use in deep end floor & sloped walls. It rolls easily & definitely pulls debris from all of the head area. The suction cause the vacuumed head to stick to the liner a few times in the deep end but I wasn’t concerned with it doing any damage to the liner. The roller vacuum head that I had just prior to this one was constantly sticking to the liner which worried me about damage. The cost was higher than other types but worth it if it hold up. I found this handy plastic hook has the correct shape to easily grab my Hayward Navigator pool cleaner on the first attempt and lift it out of the pool. At first I was concerned that a plastic hook would not be strong enough for the job, but this hook is braced in such a way in its construction that it is very strong. I used plenty of force to try and bend it, but it easily resisted and showed no signs of breaking or bending. The hook is a curved I-beam with reinforcements spaced along its length. I discovered the hook is very easy to use. It slips into the end of my telescoping pole and locks into place just like a pool brush. This hook is a useful, low cost accessory that makes working with my pool cleaner easier, and I’m pleased with it.

I read some reviews about wheels falling off of these during use, but mine was very well put together, and I doubt that will ever be an issue. As for the operation of the vacuum, I attached it to a Robelle 750 Swimming Pool Vacuum Hose, 40-Feet by 1-1/2-Inch hose, and I used a Hayward SP1106 Large Skim Vac Plate to attach the hose to my skimmer basket. Since my pool has two surface skimmers, one must be blocked with a tennis ball, allowing all of the suction to be delivered to one skimmer. In my experience, it take a few minutes for the hose to completely fill with water, but once it is full, the connection between the skimmer plate and the skimmer basket is very strong. Then all of that suction power is available to the Pentair Pro Vac, and you don’t have an issue with the Vac Plate coming loose while moving about the pool. The vacuum itself connects easily to any pool pole. The blue deck of the vac is slightly flexible allowing it to contour to rounded surfaces. The bottom of the vacuum has a couple of rubber pieces that run the width of the vac to increase suction power. The wheels roll smoothly, and the vac can be rolled up the side of my pool since the edges are curved like a bowl. My pool is roughly 15,000 gallons, so the 14inch works great for me. It also works well inside my hot tub. That being said, if I had a much larger pool, I would probably opt for a wider vacuum to speed up the process.

Customer Review: as a first time pool owner, i have a 20×40 in-ground vinyl pool. the previous owner had one of those triangle vacuums that was a) hard to keep on the floor of the pool and b) seemed to just move the stuff around instead of sucking it up. Frustrated, I was scouring Amazon hoping to find something better without having to buy a pool robot cleaner. I came across this which was a reference in a review on a competing product. A couple of things to say about this. First, it is HEAVY! Make sure you properly handle it because of the weight. Second, get a good pole (obviously since it’s heavy). Third, because of the weights on the vacuum as well as the rollers, the vacuum stays on the floor of the pool (or the walls if you want pull it up) and easily glides along. I had originally tried with the first vacuum to push it around the bottom and got tired well before I got through half the pool. This, I could push around all day long. It takes virtually zero effort to push around, and does an amazing job. Fourth, the suction on this cleaner is incredible. All in all, great product. Good design. Great performance. Keep in mind, I don’t have much to compare this to as I am a first time pool owner, and the only thing I have to compare it against is the one the previous owners left us, but I couldn’t be happier with this purchase.

Customer Review: We purchased the suction hose in may and have used it frequently since we been dealing with a lot of algae. The item arrived quick and in perfect condition. Once you get the hang of how to use it, it works wonderfully to suck & waste to get debris out from the bottom of the pool. It does have bristles on either side but if you are looking for a “brush” this isn’t it. Because of the shape, brushing/scrubbing for things that are “caked” on this does not work well. Nevertheless for the vacuum portion I do recommend it, it works very well. Downfall, the plastic is not very durable, we leaned it against the fence and it slid and hit a brick. Instantly cracked the plastic, could we still use it…I guess, but for safety reasons we won’t. I’m worried more pieces will break of and besides someone stepping on a piece it could cut our liner, and that would not be a cheap replacement. So I guess, if you are very careful and maybe don’t have kids using it definitely is the tool to get the job done.
