I was looking to replace my shark steam mop that I’ve had for four years as it finally kicked the bucket and stopped steaming. As a replacement I was looking for something that didn’t have a thousand attachments because my shark had it and I only used them once. I’ve gotten my routine down to where I vacuum the whole house and then steam and that’s a timely process. I didn’t even know they made two-in-ones like this one! I have a messed up arm from heavy equipment like hand-held vacuums and the shark steam mop because it swivels all crazy. This one ended up being heavy but it didn’t aggravate my arm at all. It doesn’t allow for crazy swivels so there was minimal risk for hurting my arm. And let me say, vacuuming and steaming as you go is the BEST! I was so nervous because it completely changes the routine and I found myself overthinking about how I was going to work it literally. Like do you vacuum and then steam, or do you do both simultaneously? Like, how do I do it?! I finally just went in and went with it. And it went beautifully and cut my floor-cleaning in half! Whole house done in just one go! I only had to refill the water tank once compared to three times before with old product. And the cord is the usual length. The handle is adjustable if you need to make it shorter or taller. And I like to have multiple pads on hand so I can change as I go. I like to dedicate one pad to our master bedroom, one for the kitchen and one for living area. And then when I’m done, I toss them all in the washer and hang-dry. It’s what I did with my old product. Naturally, when you use it in the highest mode, the suction is stronger so your battery life is shortened.This vacuum is lightweight and comes with all the attachments you could ever want. It’s so easy to maneuver and turns on a dime.I love the stand-up feature, so I don’t have to go find a corner to lean the vacuum against. The LED screen shows how much battery life is left. Customer Review: An update a/o 7/16/2025…God knows what the Tollers got into but it was ALL on the carpet this morning. The only addition to my highly favorable past review is the steam never gave out despite an hours’ constant use. That’s better than our coffee makers! I am ALWAYS suspect of Marketing’s claims but I am SUCH a Bissell homer that I will only use Bissell cleaning solution. I also used the previous generation cleaner and it’s obvious they listened to customer feedback with incremental improvements. An exceptional company.Written Thanksgiving, 2024. I’m even more impressed. Decades ago I bought two Super 99s while in Shanghai. VERY unusual colors, never seen colors/themes in the states, one light grey and the other gold/white. About 2010, our first Toller, Oscar, carpet bombed the grey and it has resisted EVERY attempt to remove DARK stains. Until now. This gizmo has almost completely removed stains with one session and I expect the stains to completely disappear. Outstanding performance! The g/w was just gifted by Willie Toller who is fighting a bout of bloody gastroenteritis. Even though I cleaned it quickly, I was concerned (first about Willie!) that it had set. Two passes and there is no way one can tell it was gifted by a Toller. This machine is DEFINITELY worth the bucks. Now on to the original review…I’m clearly a Bissell homer but they deserve the business. My first B rug cleaner was a MONSTER that looked like the aliens from Dr. Who. But it worked great. I bought the earlier version of this design, without steam, a LONG time ago and was very pleased. One of our Tollers recently had a lot of sedation and he had bowel problems and let’s just say the gifts left on the floor were quiet varied indeed.The steam function on this made short work of any version of poop he could produce and I believe the steam makes a huge difference with odors. Nowhere was there any scent left that I could smell and the pups did not linger anywhere near the cleaned spots. THIS is definitely worth the up-charge. They also significantly improved the design, better hose stowage and the long extension cord holder seems to hold the cord better.To update (May 2024), I used this on a set-in stain on broadloom which was partially removed by the earlier version. This machine removed it in short-order. It also removed water stains on a berber in the basement. Quite an impressive gizmo.

Customer Review: TLDR:This unit is great. Buy it.6 week update and PRO TIP: The dirty reservoir is pretty large, but the bypass valve shuts off way way way before the reservoir is anywhere near full. The lid of the reservoir has a float on its underside. Idea is when the dirty water is high enough to lift the float, the vacuum will suck the float the rest of the way up and block off the inlet to the vacuum motor. Which is fine – but I think Bissell set the bypass point way too low – so the motor bypasses WAY before the reservoir actually needs to be emptied.If you look at the underside of the (black) reservoir lid, the (gray) float simply rides on a track. It’s simply enough to pry the float out of the track. Doing this will prevent the motor from bypassing. Ever. So now you don’t have to empty the reservoir anywhere near as often. HOWEVER!!! Now it’s up to YOU to ensure you don’t let the dirty water get high enough to risk it getting sucked into the vacuum motor. If you’re a tinkerer – you could cut a small hole into the float and add lead shot (or similar) to weigh it down. Obviously you’ll need to test/tune to find the correct weight that retains the automatic bypass feature – but delays it until the reservoir is more full.THE BACK STORY:I’ve had an older Crosswave for 8 or 9 years. Hard to say for sure, but I think the last year or so it wasn’t working as well as new, particularly its ability to suck the liquid back up off the floor. I’m cleaning up messes, daily and oftentimes multiple times per day, on account of two Weimaraners that are nearly 16 years old… So my old CW has really been getting a workout. The CW finally died last week. Honestly it deserves a Viking-style funeral…Had no problem ordering another Bissell. Basically, I ordered this one because it was the fanciest most expensive one available with a cord. I don’t like to be beholden to the whims of a finicky battery. I just want to plug it in and have reliable power for as long as I want.THIS NEW UNIT:This one works way, way better than the old one, and has a bunch of new and improved featuresSuction: Big improvement. Hoovers the moisture up off the floor really well. Hoovers the solution out of the crevices between the hardwood boards really well. Works considerably better than my old unit did – even when it was new. Very pleased.Clean Reservoir: Same as the old one. Interchangeable, I think. I’ve noticed it seems to go through cleaning solution faster than the old one. Quite fast, in fact. For my purposes – dealing with heavy messes – this is an improvement – but you’ll need to refill the reservoir for every 100-150 square feet, even if you’re only doing a “moderate” clean.Dirty Reservoir: Improved. Bissell added a lift-out basket that collects the heavy stuff. Thus, you can dump that out into the trash before pouring out the dirty mop water. Nice feature. However, the “suction bypass” valve that opens and forces you to empty the mop water is set to open earlier than the old model – and the reservoir isn’t very full. No big deal, but considering the machine goes through cleaning solution pretty fast and does such an effective job sucking it back up – means you’ll be filling/emptying the reservoirs pretty often.Brush Roller: Slightly improved. It has a pull tab that’s easier to get ahold of so you can lift out and remove the roller. Otherwise, it’s more or less the same as before.Steam: Surprisingly effective. Heats up surprisingly fast! While the steam function is NOT comparable to a legitimate steam cleaner (I have a Dupray), it definitely helps lift off messes that have dried onto the floor. It’d be awesome if it offered as much steaming power as a real steam cleaner – but it does help and thankfully it heats up in only 30 seconds or so.Headlight: A welcome addition. I would have thought this was just a gimmick – but it honestly does help you see what your doing and focus on problem areas. It gets brighter when you pull the trigger to dispense cleaning solution. It also stays on WHENEVER the unit is plugged in. I don’t love that because I keep my unit plugged in and ready to go all the time – but that’s because I’m dealing with two senior dogs that have a lot of accidents.Self Clean: Also very very welcome. I also thought this was a gimmick – but it works really well. No, it doesn’t do a 100% job of cleaning out the brush roller and compartment – but it gives it a solid once-over. Nice improvement.Docking Station: Another very welcome addition. First, it fits the shape of the business-end of the machine perfectly so the unit can sort of seal itself up to effectively perform its self-clean function. Secondly, it creates a place to store the unit where the left-over moisture on the brush roller doesn’t get on the floor – particularly important if you’ll be storing the unit sitting on hardwood that will get stained by moisture that can soak in. This effects me because I use the unit so often (2X per day) that I keep it at the ready, all the time.Mode Selection: A simple but nice detail – the unit stays in whatever mode you were in when you LAST used it – rather than you having to set the mode every time you turn the unit on. Thank you.Noise Level: A little quieter than the old one, but still loud. No problem for me.Overall, seems like a great unit so far and it’s nice to see all the improvements Bissell has implemented. Then I went to empty the catch container and it was definite, I must write a review!First, this is my third machine in 13 years. I have a 3000 sq ft home with white marble tile in every room except the bedrooms where I have wood flooring. I live in SC a mile from the ocean and my husband runs on the beach every day and golf 4-5 times a week and refuses to go barefoot or wear slippers or some form of indoor only shoes. Needless to say I have sand, sand and more sand. Add to that the fact there is always something falling from the trees, and despite having an exterminator there are endless little critters of all sorts along baseboards. Until 2 years ago I had a sheltie with long hair so my Bissell machines have always had their work cut out for them and I couldn’t live without one!The reason for this review? Well, with each new machine I’ve had, I’ve always found something new that made me like the newer machine best and this machine was no different. Between my long hair, and years of having a dog, I use to have to reach into the catch container with a paper towel and drag out all the hair and such. Bissell has added a screen with a handle that you lift out and all the solid stuff comes right up leaving only dirty water to be flushed down the toilet. No more digging into gunk! Just tap the screen onto a paper towel and clean up is easier than ever!I’ve read reviews stating this machine leaves puddles of water on the floor. My response to that is, either the machine was defective out of the box or the person doesn’t know how to use it. You don’t keep your finger on the trigger to release cleaning fluid constantly, but squeeze the trigger to keep the roller mop wet or for ground in dirt or spills. Add cleaning solution, then allow the machine to suck it up. Floors will be nearly dry immediately and surely dry within minutes which is also helpful with a husband that always seems to walk through the area I’ve just cleaned to get to another location within the house.And finally, having white marble tile floors I can tell you I see EVERYTHING!!!! It was a $400 model, and after about 3 years, it quit sucking and left dirty water on the floor. I realized that there is a small house that connects the foot of the vacuum to the canister. It pretty much disintegrated. I searched everywhere to get a replacement hose, including calling the company. I was told that they do NOT make that replacement part for it. They offered me a 20% discount on a new vacuum. I was insulted. Why would I buy another $400 machine that would most likely do the same thing in another 3 years. Plus it was cordless and I was only able to do about 3 small rooms with it.However! I ordered this one and it works even BETTER than my $400 one, probably because it’s a “corded” version. It’s super easy to use, has great suction, and it’s easy to clean. I ordered a ”slightly used” one, because it was very inexpensive compared to a new one. I could definitely tell someone had used it, and did a pretty good job of cleaning it. It was in good condition. I figured if it breaks in 3 years, I can get another one and not feel ripped off, because I use it A LOT!! And if I get 3 years out of it, it’s worth it to me. Also, it does not NEED to be on its stand in order to self clean. That is another plus for me because I can be across the house and self clean it right there instead of dragging it back to its stand. It’s very light weight and I can carry it anywhere also. I recommend this model, but if you buy a new one, I also recommend getting the extended warranty.

Customer Review: Just got my new Bissell 2998 yesterday and it’s already been used four times. It is light enough to lift from the box and assemble without instructions but I referred to them anyway. I like the way it all connects with a twist & lock or just a click without needing to refer to highly technical schematics. This is my third new vacuum in six years. Both prior vacuums, a Shark Liftaway and Bissell ClearView, still operate very well but my back and shoulders couldn’t take it any more. The ClearView is significantly more difficult for me to push, and the Shark is awkward. The new 2998 has fantastic suction and for some reason, I suspect it’s the closed HEPA filtration unit, it’s not pulling at my w-2-w carpet up the way the Shark did. Yet it’s powerfully extracting the finest dust particles! I’m just blown away by the power, quality, versatility, and most of all ease of cleaning. It came with an attachment for high dusting or hard to reach corners and the other for upholstery. I wish I had a before picture to share of my ottoman but I literally brought the original color back after two passes using the upholstery attachment. I also like that I can use the rollers or not and adjust for bare floors without having to bend or reach for the switch. The unit is more compact than most vacuums although it’s certainly weighty enough and it’s not made with cheap plastic. It’s actually a pretty appliance if you can believe it. I don’t know after so many months of searching, googling, using AI resources and finally the one embedded in the Amazon app – which I love! – I’m just so thrilled to finally have something to use that doesn’t make me feel my age. My back didn’t hurt once! I nearly selected a Eureka model for about $90 less, and for $200 more I could have the Shark Stratos that was in my cart for four days before finally finding this one. I made the right choice. Highly recommended!

Customer Review: I cannot believe I never left a review for this. This vacuum is easily one of the top 5, maybe top 3 purchases of my entire adult life. I don’t think I could adequately express how much I love this vacuum in words. I have had the absolute PLEASURE of using this vacuum for about 3 months now, and I have not one singular complaint. I keep a very clean house and vacuum once a week at minimum and when I say I can run this over my carpet 3x over and pull up dust and pet hair not visible to the naked eye, I mean it. I have 4 cats. This vacuum does a phenomenal job of getting up pet hair and any litter they track around the house. The canister is so easy to clean, it usually does not require sticking my hand up there to pull anything out. Hair does not wrap around the spin brush and that has been nice compared to other vacuums I’ve used in the past. The swivel head is SO GOOD for getting into tougher spots. If you think your vacuum doesn’t need headlights, you’re wrong. I can see SO much better. Another feature I noticed by happenstance was how great the suction really is. I had spot cleaned a stain on my carpet with some water and carpet cleaner, and even after dabbing up the excess liquid, I could visibly see the vacuum sucking up even MORE water from the carpet that wasn’t able to be seen or felt. The attachments are fantastic, particularly the one for vacuuming furniture. It sucked up every bit of pet hair with ease. Fully assembled, it’s fairly lightweight and easy to maneuver around the house. The enclosed HEPA filter is something that really sold me on this vacuum as an allergy sufferer. It doesn’t kick back any debris when using, and no stinky smell escapes like some older vacuums. I also like the option to change the mode for either carpet or hardwood. It works perfectly on every surface I’ve used it on. The only ONLY thing I would change about this vacuum is I wish it had a retractable cord that sucked itself up, but it would still get 100 stars from me. They could charge even more for this vacuum. This vacuum was not even within my means. I financed it, and I have no regrets. Pry this vacuum from my cold, dead hands. Cremate me with this vacuum. Buy this vacuum.
