The 300 was so terrific to use at work that we wanted to get a Levoit for our home. However, we didn’t need the larger size dust collector canister that the 300 has (which is perfect for doing a huge amount of carpeting in a professional building), so we went with the more economical 200 model.The model 200 has been excellent for home use. The vacuum is super easy to set up and use. The suction power is very good. The battery charge lasts at least 45 minutes of continual use. The tangle resistant roller design is important, since we have two long haired spaniels. In fact, I haven’t had the need to pull hair out of the rollers like I always had to do with our Eureka WindTunnel. The dust collector is easy to clean. The vacuum is very light and easy to maneuver. The brush head can turn into a 90″ angle when vacuuming, so it can get way into corners and small spaces. You can fold it completely flat to vacuum way under the beds.We have compared using this vacuum to our Eureka WindTunnel by thoroughly vacuuming a carpet first with the WindTunnel. Then, we vacuumed the same carpet with the Levoit. The Levoit picked up a ton of dirt and hair that the WindTunnel missed. It was pretty shocking how much the WindTunnel missed.I also love the fact that we don’t have to adjust the roller height for different surfaces (like we always had to do with the WindTunnel). The Levoit moves effortlessly from bare floor to carpeting and doesn’t miss any of the dirt along the edges of the carpet. When you look closely at the bare floor after vacuuming, you can see that the Levoit really got all the dust off the surface. Well Bosch is putting them on notice with its Unlimited series of vacuums, which is a major challenge to their stranglehold on the market.The good:The Unlimited vacuums all clean quite well, and they may even have the best build quality on the market, although long-term durability is a question mark. They have a sleek look and are easy to use. It was also a great move to have them use the same hot-swappable batteries that Bosch power tools use, since battery life is a huge problem with every stick-vac so it’s great to be able to change batteries on the fly. The bend on the Unlimited 10 works great and it comes with tons of accessories. Debris is very easily removed from the vacuum without a mess and it’s great that it can be compressed down on the fly with a lever. The vacuums have numerous attachments and are loaded with versatile features.The bad:The Unlimited vacuums are definitely heavier than comparable models from the “purple” brand. They’re still pretty light, but they can’t be whipped around quite the same way and are fairly long. Doesn’t pose an issue for normal operation, but these might not be what I would choose to vacuum stairs. The battery life is comparable to the competition, which unfortunately means it has room for improvement. This was a huge missed opportunity for Bosch, as they could have included a 6ah battery and really set themselves apart. The power is also just “ok” for a high-end stick vacuum. I was expecting a heavier vacuum from Bosch to decimate the competition on suction rather than compete on even ground. Also, the brushes on the standard attachment might be slightly too stiff if you have super-shiny, delicate polished floors. I’m also not sure a touchscreen was needed. It sells vacuums for sure, but it’s one more thing to go wrong and I would have preferred mechanical switches.The skus:The unlimited vacuums come in four skus. At $499 you get the bare bones Unlimited 9 model. Moving to $569 gets you the Unlimited 9 with an additional fast charger. At $599, you get the bare bones Unlimited 10, with the main benefit being that it can fold to easily vacuum under furniture, and this feature works very well. Then at $699, you get an Unlimited 10, with among other things, a fast charger and a proper floor roller brush.To be blunt, I think they could have done better with this lineup. It’s a huge omission that the only way to get the floor roller is with the most expensive Unlimited 10 sku, and you can’t get it with the Unlimited 9 at all. Although they market the default brush as a “one-size-fits-all” brush that can do carpet and floors, trust me, if you have floors (especially delicate floors or dark wood floors that show dust), you NEED the floor brush.So that said, my recommendation would be the $499 Unlimited 9 or the $699 Unlimited 10, and avoiding the middle skus. I do not think tacking on $69 to the Unlimited 9 price for a fast charger is a good value, and I would be shopping for extra batteries instead. And with the Unlimited 10, I think the floor brush is so important that I can’t imagine not spending the extra to get it.Bottom Line:The Unlimited vacuums are a great, highly competitive series of vacuums that perform well against the established models and in many cases exceed them.
